Art

I never really know how to appreciate art.. but these three piece arts took my breath away and i cannot resist not buying them.

This first piece of art is a drawing of San Francisco Lombard street, also known as "the crookedest street"

This is the actual picture of the Lombard St.
can u see how crooked it is?..
we actually went through the street and it's actually very similar to the drawing above. The St. is surrounded with beautiful flowers and decent buildings and expensive cars!.. heh~

This next piece is the Famous Golden Gate..

The actual pic doesn't really look that nice huh.. well.. it always looks better in drawings.. hehehe

I later found out that there's actually two bridge in San Francisco... apprently the Golden gate is the famous one and it's well- known internationally. The other bridge is actually longer than this.. There's a history behind the Golden Gate and that is why it is well-known.. i'm not really a history person.. so i didn't bother googling about it.. but if u're interested .. u may.. ^^

we entered San Francisco tru the Golden Gate and exited tru the other bridge.. which i dun recall the name of it.. ( cuz it's not famous!.. hah~)

My Friend told me that they actually never stop painting the golden gate.. know why?.. cuz it takes a while for them to paint the wholeeee gate.. (duh, cuz it's long!) then by the time they reached the end of the gate.. the front gate's paint wears off.. and so they start from the very begginging again.. so bascially they never stops.. !.. whoever get's the painting job contract sure earns much!!

Third piece!.. one of my fav!.. the Alcatraz Island...
The focus of this painting is that little island on the top of the painting..

This is how the island looks like in reality..

The Alcatraz island is located in the middle of San Francisco bay. During the 80's that island was a military prison and then a federal prison in later years. Yes.. they put prisoners in that island!.. If u look at the island from the shore, it's actually not that far.. distance wise, IT IS POSSIBLE to swim all the way to the shore but the people don't use that island as a prison for no reason right... the water is always VERY cold and it was too cold for them to swim to the land and plus the strong current in the waters so there's no way they can escape that island. True enough, throughout their operating years as a prison, no one ever successfully escape from that island.

What family means to you?

>> Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Family means a lot to me, I was brought up in a close-knit family and i not only grew up with my siblings.. but also my cousins. Every saturday, we will meet up at my grandma's house and have our little weeky family reunion. I still remember our younger days when we venture through every little hills and bushes around my grandma's house and trying to make a pool out of my grandma's bathroom... Those were the days.. time flies.. but the tradition is still going on... every saturday night.. those that are still in KK will continue to have the little family reunion and grandma never fails to feed us with her ever delicious food.

After being here in the states, family means more than ever to me.... families in the states are the ones that i never really got the chance to know them as much. Being able to meet up with them, talk to them, brings back fond memories... no matter where we are, what we're doing.. we'll always be a family.. being part of my family had always been a great blessing to me.

Two days ago, we had our little family dinner with family members who are in the states.. when i say little, i mean little as in it's just a few of us out of the many in other parts of the states...they should all move to California. hah~.. Uncle Wilson happens to be in California that weekend and so we had our little gathering in an awesome Mexican restaurant ' El Thorito' !

they sell non-alcoholic margarita -_-'

Memorial day Weekend..

Woke up 12:30 in the afternoon on memorial day .. hah~.. we got back around 1:30am yesterday, had fun but were all really tired. We plan to leave San Francisco around 2 -3 pm-ish but got stuck with the beauty of the city and end up spending more time there than expected. We left the city and head back to LSU at around 7 pm. The trip was awesome but the journey was a lil tooooo longg.. we got stuck in trafic in LA for about 3 hours and that definately prolonged our journey..

Our first stop... PUC

Met up with cuzzy Jaylene who happens to study there... :D

Went to Elmshaven, Ellen G White's last home before she died.. visiting her home reminds me of Australia..

Kellogg's old packaging!.. this is vintage!

and this is what we all see today... sad.. the "ayam" and the "katak" took over the humans... :(

Camwhore in Ellen white's bathroom.. hehehe

About an hour and a half away from PUC... SAN FRANCISCO!.. wohooo!!

The Golden Gate

YES! we're finally here!!!

Colt was kind enough to join us and braught us around San Francisco.. Apparently none of us know the city very well.. Thanks Colt.. :)

Lazy and fat seals..

Rope Course

>> Tuesday, May 19, 2009

It was a challenging-and-lots-of-fun Sunday. Together with my EDPC 666 Intervention and prevention strategies course mates (they need to change the course number.. -_-') , we arrived at the Anteater Recreation Center over at UC Irvine not so ready for the day.. i myself was stunned when i saw the site of the ropes course.. i have this huge fear of height and i just don't see myself up there walking on thin ropes..

We were not forced to do any of the challenge and the instructors clearly states that if we are uncomfortable doing any of them, we do not need to do it. I'm tempted to not do it but what the heck.. i just give it a try!.. suprisingly.. i did well .. everyone was so scared up there.. and i cannot afford to be panic coz i know i have to focus and take care of myself as well as my team.. together, we manage to finish the low rope course. As for the higher ropes course, i decided to stay back coz i think it's too much for me.. obviously it's higher than the low ropes course and the low ones were already above my limits so i decided not to push myself.

This experience has indeed taught me teamwork and trusts. I put all my trust on my team mates and together we did it!.. GO TEAM ICE!.. :)

Malaysian Dreamgirl..

>> Thursday, May 7, 2009

I started catching up with Malaysian Dreamgirl weeks ago.. i watched the beginning and i hated it!!!.. imagine if u watch "Dancing With The Star" every week and suddenly watch "Malaysian Dreamgirl"... hah~!.. u'll be surprise.

Anyway, i'm not here to talk bad about the show.. but to say I'm very surprise on how well these girls actually are doing towards the end of the show..and how much they've improved.. it matters not how u start but how u finish.. i start watching like around episode 18 and i skipped all the dramas~!.. ( not only people involve in the drama were having headaches. me watching it also headache .. sigh~) i enjoyed their photo shots sessions and some of their pictures WOWed me.. go to www.malaysiandreamgirl.tv and see for yourself...

My favorite picture of all is this picture by Ming.. she was voted out but nevertheless, Kudos Ming for this picture.. love it!..
