Taiwan is the place to be.. i'm liking it.. very much.. tho' i only spend a day in taipei.. the food and everything is good enough to impress me.. i'm now in Taichung.. about 4 or 5 hours away from Taipei.. residing in Taiwan Adventist College.. which is also another amazing place.. it's like a better version of Kundasang.. it's cold here.. esp the morning and night.. all wrap up in winter clothes. it makes me feel like i'm in some kinna snowing country or what.. haha.. but no, there's no snow here.. anyway.. the environment in the college is great.. similar to Mission College.. just that i think the lanscape and everything is much better here.. bjorn and swtiz said that MC cafe is better ( so no more complains about the cafe.. be gratefull.. haha) which i agree.. haha.. here.. u don;'t have much choices.. the only thing good is that.. they use very minimal of oil in their food.. like VERY VERy little.. they even boil the vegetables at times.. haha.. isn't it good?.. YES!.. hah..:P
something about Adventist colleges.. they are always attached to some farms.. u find cow farm before entering Avondale College in Australia.. and the ever smelly chicken farm in Mision College Thailand.. (mc students.. u know what i am talking about..) and guess what i found here in Taiwan Adventist College?.. teng teng teng... CHICKEN FARM!!!.. just right outside the grand entrance.. man..cannot believe it.. come to think of it.. it's quite similar to MC.. went to the night market yesterday night.. and it's a tuesday market.. similar to MC.. they only have it on tuesday.. and the things sold there.. is much more expensive as compared to those u can get in thailand.. ( one bag of fruits.. which cost like 10 or 20 baht = RM 1 or 2 ) here it cost 100 TN which is like RM 10!!!.. yes.. expensive!!!.. and the clothes.. and other things.. oh.. very expensive too.. the only thing i find it reasonable .. is the 'zen zu nai cha" (milky tea with pearl).. 20 NT = RM 2 and i'm not exagerating.. it really taste better than the ones u can get in kk!!.. and i got those in the market.. not a proper shop.. i guess i can get better ones in taipei.. a must try thing.. :) and guess what.. i had a special cup of " zen zu nai cha".. hot 'zen zu nai cha' specially for winter.. this is the first time i drank hot 'zen zu nai cha' .. but let me tell u.. it taste as good as the cold one!..:)
anyway.. i will be n the college untill friday.. will be here for a week.. will head for Taipei next week and hope to be able to do some shopping by then..
what's my service?.. hehe.. i'm teaching in the high school here.. and yes.. i mean high school!.. it was fun teaching them.. they can hardly speak english.. we kinna lied to them that we speak no mandarin.. it was fun listening to them saying things that they "thought" we don't understand.. haha.. but later on we burst the bubble and they were like " lao shi!.. wei sem me bu zao jiang!!.." basically they sigh and complain why didn't we tell them earlier that we understand mandarin.. haha.. they find it a hard time to communicate with us.. but think about it.. if they know.. i will not be able to get them to speak english!!.. they have golds in the mouth when they are to speak english.. real hard to get them open their mouth..:P
more teaching to come for the days ahead.. a good experience indeed.. teaching taiwanese kids are a whole lot diff compared to teaching students of AIMS.. but i'm liking it..:) cheers to all the teachers!!..
Zai Zian..
