Greetings from Taiwan..

>> Tuesday, December 25, 2007

Taiwan is the place to be.. i'm liking it.. very much.. tho' i only spend a day in taipei.. the food and everything is good enough to impress me.. i'm now in Taichung.. about 4 or 5 hours away from Taipei.. residing in Taiwan Adventist College.. which is also another amazing place.. it's like a better version of Kundasang.. it's cold here.. esp the morning and night.. all wrap up in winter clothes. it makes me feel like i'm in some kinna snowing country or what.. haha.. but no, there's no snow here.. anyway.. the environment in the college is great.. similar to Mission College.. just that i think the lanscape and everything is much better here.. bjorn and swtiz said that MC cafe is better ( so no more complains about the cafe.. be gratefull.. haha) which i agree.. haha.. here.. u don;'t have much choices.. the only thing good is that.. they use very minimal of oil in their food.. like VERY VERy little.. they even boil the vegetables at times.. haha.. isn't it good?.. YES!.. hah..:P

something about Adventist colleges.. they are always attached to some farms.. u find cow farm before entering Avondale College in Australia.. and the ever smelly chicken farm in Mision College Thailand.. (mc students.. u know what i am talking about..) and guess what i found here in Taiwan Adventist College?.. teng teng teng... CHICKEN FARM!!!.. just right outside the grand entrance.. man..cannot believe it.. come to think of it.. it's quite similar to MC.. went to the night market yesterday night.. and it's a tuesday market.. similar to MC.. they only have it on tuesday.. and the things sold there.. is much more expensive as compared to those u can get in thailand.. ( one bag of fruits.. which cost like 10 or 20 baht = RM 1 or 2 ) here it cost 100 TN which is like RM 10!!!.. yes.. expensive!!!.. and the clothes.. and other things.. oh.. very expensive too.. the only thing i find it reasonable .. is the 'zen zu nai cha" (milky tea with pearl).. 20 NT = RM 2 and i'm not exagerating.. it really taste better than the ones u can get in kk!!.. and i got those in the market.. not a proper shop.. i guess i can get better ones in taipei.. a must try thing.. :) and guess what.. i had a special cup of " zen zu nai cha".. hot 'zen zu nai cha' specially for winter.. this is the first time i drank hot 'zen zu nai cha' .. but let me tell u.. it taste as good as the cold one!..:)

anyway.. i will be n the college untill friday.. will be here for a week.. will head for Taipei next week and hope to be able to do some shopping by then..

what's my service?.. hehe.. i'm teaching in the high school here.. and yes.. i mean high school!.. it was fun teaching them.. they can hardly speak english.. we kinna lied to them that we speak no mandarin.. it was fun listening to them saying things that they "thought" we don't understand.. haha.. but later on we burst the bubble and they were like " lao shi!.. wei sem me bu zao jiang!!.." basically they sigh and complain why didn't we tell them earlier that we understand mandarin.. haha.. they find it a hard time to communicate with us.. but think about it.. if they know.. i will not be able to get them to speak english!!.. they have golds in the mouth when they are to speak english.. real hard to get them open their mouth..:P

more teaching to come for the days ahead.. a good experience indeed.. teaching taiwanese kids are a whole lot diff compared to teaching students of AIMS.. but i'm liking it..:) cheers to all the teachers!!..

Zai Zian..

New England Ensemble

>> Saturday, December 15, 2007

The Columbian Union college's New England Ensemble visited MC today.. the CUC is famous of it's music program.. claim to be one of the best within the adventist community. anywayz.. what's greater is that i got a chance to play with them!!.. it was great playing among the prossss.. i mean.. what am i... nuthing!.. but yet.. they were very helpful and humble enough to invite us to join them.. while playing with them.. it somehow reminds me of the time when i was actively involve in KKSO.. kinna miss the whole orchestra thingy.. anyway~.. i did LOTS OF sight reading today .. i think i will take a break from that.. none of the pieces i've ever played before.. except for one of the Messiah's choral.. anyway.. they were great.. and i remembered the trumpet solo.. he was standing right behind me!!.. and he was LOUD!.. i was trying my best to act normal.. i think i did a good job.. but he was REALLY LOUD!.. my fingers were too bz with the bow and the strings.. or else, i think i would cover my ears.. haha.. anyway.. a nice experience indeed.. pictures will be up soon!!..

Christmas in our hearts..

>> Friday, December 14, 2007

whenever i see boys and girls selling lanterns on the street,
I remember the child, in the manger as he sleeps.
Wherever there are people, giving gifts exchanging cards,
I believe, that Christmas, is truly in their heart.
Let's light our Christmas trees, for a bright tomorrow,
where nation are at peace, and all are one in God.

Lets sing merry Christmas,
and a happy holiday,
this season may we never forget
the love we have for Jesus.
Let him be the one to guide us,
as another new year start
and may the spirit of Christmas,
be always in our hearts.

In every prayer and every song the community unites,
celebrating the birth, of our savior Jesus Christ.
Let love led that start light, on the first Christmas morn,
lead us back to the manger, where Christ the child was born.

So come let us rejoice, come and sing a christmas carol.
with one big joyful voice, proclaim the name of the Lord.

Happy Sabbath Everyone..

yet another day...

6 days of camping.. finally come to an end...the 8th SAUM international pathfinder camporee officially ended today.. went to the camp site this morning.. wished i was part of it.. it reminds me of my good ol' days.. when i was still young of course.. joining pathfinder camps.. and getting to know people.. during my time.. our camps was nothing like this one.. we had no water and the sea is our only source of water.. we took a shower in the river and don't even bother asking how we manage to do our nature ' business'... those were the days.. tho' it was hard.. it was FUN!!... Today is also the last day of school (AIMS) haven't been going there for the past two weeks now.. the kids were really thrilled seeing me there today.. they knew i was coming for the class party.. they were anticipating my attendance..the moment i entered the class, i have a bunch of kids flocking towards me and giving me a looonnnggg biiiggg hug... each of them gave their little speech to me.. i was touched and nearly cried.. but i hold my tears.. coz somehow.. i think teachers are not suppose to cry.. hahaha.. :) anyway.. to my Grade 2 students of AIMS.. thank you for giving me such good memories.. and thank you for helping me like teaching.. it's because of u all .. that made me change my whole perception about being a teacher.. all of you don't know how much u've influenced me in many ways.. thank you for giving a great experience.. i love u all...:) and not forgetting Teacher Lyn, the class teacher of grade two.. thank you for letting me 'screw up' ur class.. :) a great teacher indeed!!.. :) pictures of the class party will be up soon .. check out www.picasaweb.google.com/chervieku for updates..:) cheers everyone!.. ho! ho! ho! All i want for christmas is....

All i want for Christmas is my two front teeth!
my two front teeth, YES! my two front teeth!

As an innocent child asked for his two front teeth, what would be of yours this coming Christmas?

Things could be so simple, in a child's mind. how i wish i could turn back time... to be a child again, If it's so, i would definitely make many changes in my life. not that i regretted my life before, but i could've done better in some ways. Life journey is a learning experience, if you don't learn, don't call it a life! many good and bad things are happening around me, most of the things, we are not in control... but we can make a difference, if we try.

This Christmas, i want not tangible things, but i wish for a better heart, a better me. i can never be perfect, i know sin has got into me but! i know God is willing and always forgives me.

Lord... make me your servant, humble and meek, may you lift the weak me and make me a better person.. make me a servant, make me your servant... today...

Merry Christmas Everyone..

- Nothing is impossible, when you put ur trust in God ... for nothing is impossible with God - Luke 1:37

tata to the year 2007~~

Youth Conference, Taipei, Taiwan

I'm going to Taiwan on the 23rd of December.. it's suppose to be a happy dupey event.. coz it will be another FRM ( Family Reunion Meeting ) for me.. don't ask my how i get the FRM thingy.. anyway.. yes.. but then.. i found out something from aunt Theresa today.. she said.." u youths will go for the community service for a week and we will go tour round Taiwan.. (she even mentioned the place that they will be going.. i can't remember tho') and we will join u all for the conference a week later" ... i was like.. WHAT?.. i tot we are all going to do the community service!?.. and she stress it again.. community service is only FOR YOUTH! =_=' ... and they (as in my parents and the other aunties and uncles of mine i assume) paid for their tour fare..... " we will join u all for the conference the second week..." she continued... =_=''!

For those of u who don't know.. i'm actually NOT going for a holiday in Taiwan.. we're going there for a youth convention where u provide ur service to the community and in a way come together as children of God... so.. am i still happy about it?.. i guess so... *~*

Vietnamese cuisine

>> Friday, November 16, 2007

i'm lucky enough to have many Vietnamese friends here to cook for me..:) i've always enjoy eating Vietnamese food and of course eating is not only my job.. but also to 'steal' some secret recipe from them.. haha.. Vietnamese food is easy and yet delicious.. it does not involve much of cooking or frying or whatsoever.. unlike Chinese food.. you have from deep frying to steaming for hours.. most of their ingredients are what we call raw herbs. similar to thai.. they eat a lot of mint leaves, basal leaves and many others which i don't know their names.. those leaves are cheap here in Thailand.. u can get one bunch of basal leaves for like 5 baht.. equivalent to 50 sens.. but back home in kk.. it cost me around Rm2.50 for one small packet of basal leaves.. it is consider quite 'rare' back home.. :) here are some of my fav viet cuisine.. there are many more.. but didn't got a chance to take all.. enjoy looking at the pictures and feeling hungry.. haha...~:)

" i feel so useless today... i think we are more energetic when we have more things to do" said Ben in the cafeteria during lunch time.. yes.. we all feel useless.. sleepy.. and tired.. why?.. not because we have lots to do.. but because we have LESS things to do.. like i said.. from teaching 5 subjects daily.. now.. we are left with 1.. we're suppose to go "yipee!! & yahoo!!" but guess what.. we all looked dull..

anyway.. i managed to take a few snaps of my students in Basal Reading class..

This is Earn.. real name = Lucksika as in 'luck - c - ca'.. thai people dun go for their real name.. i wonder why.. all of them have nicknames.. anyway.. she's a very sweet girl.. and cute too!.. haha..i made them do a story (comic style story) for my basal reading class.. i had fun reading them... haha~!~~!

out of the blue...

AIMS library......

yes... i'm bored.. and i don't know what to do.. from teaching 5 subjects ( social studies, math, science, spelling & Vocabulary and basal reading) now i'm left with only one subject - math.. this means.. my internship is coming to an end.. should i be happy about this?.. i was quite unhappy with this whole internship thingy at first.. but i've grown to liked it.. and i know.. i will miss it.. when i'm away..

Time flies.. one more semester to go.. and i'm done.. i will walk down the aisle, with my robe.. and alas~!.. i'm out of Thailand.. as if it was just yesterday.. i entered college, enjoying my freshman years.. with my left-over-high-school spirit.. four years has passed since then.. many things happen in between.. things that i will remember.. for the rest of my life.. fond memories.. :D Mission college indeed is a part of me in a way.. and also not forgetting AIMS.. tho' i've been working here only for one semester with the kids... but i've learn a lot.. valuable lessons that will help me grow in the future... i will miss my grade 2 kids.. i will.. :(

now.. the problem here is.. do i really wanna be a teacher in the future?.. do not ask me this question yet.. coz.. i have no answer to this question.. seriously.. i do not know.. my path is really directing me to a teaching profession.. and guess what i plan to do for my masters?.. yes.. education!.. and yet.. i'm still not sure if i wanna be a teacher.. yes.. i am really confuse.. hahhaA... well.. what i have in mind is... just go ahead with education.. and think later!.. when i have the papers.. :D

anyway.. i believe my new phase of life after my degree will be a challenging one.. i'm ready to embarked on a new journey.. :D are u ready for me?.. haha.. here i come..:)

my friend once told me.. the cello is best played by broken hearted people.. they somehow ' feel ' better .. each full , deep and strong note they pull.. is so called a sound that is full of feelings and expression..

i do believe all sorts of music gives us hope.. i find hope.. in music... i'm glad God created music..

Great is Thy Faithfulness
