MC meets at Loma Linda

Seeing people i know during my college years in Thailand brings back good memories.. the world suddenly became so small when we get together and talk about the past, present and the future. Without realizing it, how fast time flies....

Got together at Rose Apple Thai Restaurant at Loma Linda with great Thai atmosphere and service. Love the decorations~.. reminds me of Thailand so much.. =)


Nok and Ryan got to visit California for a bit hence the get together. I don't know how many times we bid farewell but somehow we knew, we will see each other again.. goodbyes were never forever for us.. :) It was really nice to see her again and wished i had more time to hang out with her.


Not forgetting the amazing food that evening.. was quite expensive ( i end up paying $25 for my fish dish and coconut ice-cream. oh and hot chayen.. :) )but i guess it was all worth it.. haven't had spicy Thai food for quite a while.

떡볶이

My first attempt in making topokki was a sucess! =) i'm going to share the recipe i use to make this delicious and spicy dish!.. i'm not very good in writing recipe so please bear with me.. :)

Ingredients:
Rice Cake
Fish Cake
Korean Chili Paste (Kochujang)
Korean Chili Powder
Corn Syrup
Onions
Green onions
Seasoning

1. boil water with the fish cake until the fish cake is cooked.
2. take the fish cake out and put aside for later.
3. add chili paste, chili powder, corn syrup, sliced onions and seasoning into the water ( the same one that was used to boil the fish cake) and bring it to boil.
4. Add rice cake and bring it to boil. Stir it occasionally to avoid burning of the rice cake.
5. cut the fish cake into bite slices and the chop the green onions in about 3 inch size.
6. Add in the fish cake and green onions and bring it to boil.

Once the rice cake it soft, it's ready to serve. The longer your cook the rice cake, the better it taste, but you need to add water occasionally because it dries up pretty quickly.

Add the chili paste and chili powder in accordance to how spicy you want it to be.

When i was told that ABBA is going to have a concert at Hollywood bowl.. I was like.. " They are still alive?!?!?!" turn out to be Yes.. they are still avery much live and kickin'~ infact they're much younger than i expected.. and they still.. sing really well..

4 days before the big day...

In four days time.. i will be "walking" (term used here, aka graduating). Few course mates of mine and i went out for a lil get-together dinner to celebrate Ana's early-birthday and the 'leaving' me at P.F. Chang.. Yeap!.. sounds chinese that's cuz it's a chinese bistro.. sorry no pics of the food!.. similar to chinese food, just that it's americanized chinese food.

Love the dessert!.. banana ice-cream!.. it’s sooo good!. I promised myself to have at least one of those again before I leave the states for good.. and this time.. I'm going to take a picture of it!..

After seeing each other like almost every day in almost all of our classes, this is the FIRST time in the whole entire year we actually went out for dinner =.= That was like the focal of our discussion for the night.. we were wondering why we didn’t organize anything like this before.. thanks to Irene!.. here’s our first and last get-together (for me). The rest of them are going on with the Educational Specialist Degree, and more get-together for them.. yay! I decided to just stop at my MA degree.. there's a few reason to it..

1. i don't plan to settle down in the states.. after staying here for quite a while.. i heart Asia in every possible way.. hah~ the EdS school psychology thingy is more of an American education system thingy than of Asia.. so no point..

2. I'll need 2 additional years to finish up my EdS... firts year MA and next two years EdS.. plus my BA.. total of years = 7.. SEVEN YEARS!!!.. i can become doctor already =.=

3. In america, counselor and school psychologist - distinctly different.. one counsel the other do testing.. in asia.. u pretty much do both as a counselor... plus the government don't do much funding for special education.. so school psychologist is not so much of use.. i don't know about other countries in asia.. but i'm sure Malaysia don't =.=

Art

I never really know how to appreciate art.. but these three piece arts took my breath away and i cannot resist not buying them.

This first piece of art is a drawing of San Francisco Lombard street, also known as "the crookedest street"

This is the actual picture of the Lombard St.
can u see how crooked it is?..

we actually went through the street and it's actually very similar to the drawing above. The St. is surrounded with beautiful flowers and decent buildings and expensive cars!.. heh~

This next piece is the Famous Golden Gate..

The actual pic doesn't really look that nice huh.. well.. it always looks better in drawings.. hehehe

I later found out that there's actually two bridge in San Francisco... apprently the Golden gate is the famous one and it's well- known internationally. The other bridge is actually longer than this.. There's a history behind the Golden Gate and that is why it is well-known.. i'm not really a history person.. so i didn't bother googling about it.. but if u're interested .. u may.. ^^

we entered San Francisco tru the Golden Gate and exited tru the other bridge.. which i dun recall the name of it.. ( cuz it's not famous!.. hah~)

My Friend told me that they actually never stop painting the golden gate.. know why?.. cuz it takes a while for them to paint the wholeeee gate.. (duh, cuz it's long!) then by the time they reached the end of the gate.. the front gate's paint wears off.. and so they start from the very begginging again.. so bascially they never stops.. !.. whoever get's the painting job contract sure earns much!!


Third piece!.. one of my fav!.. the Alcatraz Island...
The focus of this painting is that little island on the top of the painting..

This is how the island looks like in reality..



The Alcatraz island is located in the middle of San Francisco bay. During the 80's that island was a military prison and then a federal prison in later years. Yes.. they put prisoners in that island!.. If u look at the island from the shore, it's actually not that far.. distance wise, IT IS POSSIBLE to swim all the way to the shore but the people don't use that island as a prison for no reason right... the water is always VERY cold and it was too cold for them to swim to the land and plus the strong current in the waters so there's no way they can escape that island. True enough, throughout their operating years as a prison, no one ever successfully escape from that island.

What family means to you?

Family means a lot to me, I was brought up in a close-knit family and i not only grew up with my siblings.. but also my cousins. Every saturday, we will meet up at my grandma's house and have our little weeky family reunion. I still remember our younger days when we venture through every little hills and bushes around my grandma's house and trying to make a pool out of my grandma's bathroom... Those were the days.. time flies.. but the tradition is still going on... every saturday night.. those that are still in KK will continue to have the little family reunion and grandma never fails to feed us with her ever delicious food.

After being here in the states, family means more than ever to me.... families in the states are the ones that i never really got the chance to know them as much. Being able to meet up with them, talk to them, brings back fond memories... no matter where we are, what we're doing.. we'll always be a family.. being part of my family had always been a great blessing to me.

Two days ago, we had our little family dinner with family members who are in the states.. when i say little, i mean little as in it's just a few of us out of the many in other parts of the states...they should all move to California. hah~.. Uncle Wilson happens to be in California that weekend and so we had our little gathering in an awesome Mexican restaurant ' El Thorito' !
